How hard is it to get an option 40 contract

3 Aug 2011 I am considering enlisting with either a UZ Recon contract or a 11x option 40 contract (Ranger). I have been training hard over the last 3 years  Do you have what it takes to In AIT, talk to your instructor and get with a Ranger recruiter to sign a Travis Young Is enlisting with option 40 still done?

Option 40 in any contract is possible. All an option 40 does is give you Airborne School and the Ranger Indoctrination Program, or RASP. You'll still need to pick an MOS that is eligible for being placed in a Ranger Battalion. This will change with the needs of the 75 Ranger Regiment. If you do not receive an Option 40 contract, you can either wait for new contracts to become available or attempt to volunteer for Ranger service during your Basic Combat Training (BCT), One Station Unit Training (OSUT), Advance Individual Training (AIT), or while attending Airborne School. a million. The thing is that if I enlist, I want an Option 40 because everything I have read states that having it in your contract is the only way to guarantee you a shot at Rangers.

The key metric for whether or not you can get an option 40 contract is your ASVAB score. It doesn’t matter if you were a A+ student in high school if you score poorly on the ASVAB. My suggestion to you if you want to get a specific job is to practice the ASVAB until you can do it blindfolded. Option 40 in any contract is possible. Option 40 may be something they can get you second or third quarter this year, but they do anything they can to sell recruits on something up front that does not require delayed entry. If Option 40 is not available at all this FY, then get 11B with airborne school guaranteed and volunteer for RASP at airborne school.
