Beware of scammers impersonating as your trusted friend, or even Admins / Trusted Middleman. Always, always check the profile of the person you are CURRENTLY in trade with. The era of phishing links are dying now, and have now evolved into huge bunch of these " Trusted friend Scammers". A middleman will usually hold on to the items from person A of the trade. While the middleman is holding the items, person B sends their part of the trade over to person A. Once that is complete, the middleman sends person A's items over to person B. Once you choose a middleman, they will say they will add said middleman to a chat so that all of you can be together and you can trade your items to your "friend" aka the middleman and that they (the scammer) will also trade the keys to them. If evidence exists that the Steam user is a scammer, Steam Support will ban the account from using the Steam Community, including Trading and using the Steam Market. The length of the ban is dependent on the severity and quantity of the scams. In some cases, scammers will be banned permanently.
